Anthrapeg 20mg Injection is an anticancer medication that belongs to the class of anthracycline topoisomerase inhibitors that contains the active compound doxorubicin encapsulated in a closed lipid sphere (liposome) in which the liposomes are coated with polyethylene glycol (PEG). This coating with PEG enhances the circulation of the drug in the bloodstream that helps to deliver the drug from blood stream to cancerous cells rather than healthy ones. This medication is used as a monotherapy for patients with metastatic breast cancer, with an increased cardiac risk associated with conventional doxorubicin, ovarian cancer, AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma and in combinational therapy of multiple myeloma (cancer of white blood cells called plasma cells).
