In Prevention of Diphtheria
Diphtheria is a bacterial infection that causes pain and swelling in the throat. This might cause difficulty in breathing. It might also damage the heart, kidneys and nerves. Infanrix Hexa Vaccine gives protection against diphtheria. It is recommended to get your child vaccinated against diphtheria as early as 6 weeks. It is advisable to consult your doctor for complete information regarding vaccination schedules.
In Prevention of Tetanus
Tetanus causes a locked jaw, thus making it impossible to breathe, open the mouth to eat or swallow. Infanrix Hexa Vaccine prevents tetanus by helping the body produce substances that resist infection from bacteria causing tetanus. Infanrix Hexa Vaccine should be given to everyone, even to children as early as 6 weeks of age. Consult your doctor if you have any doubts.
In Prevention of Pertussis
Pertussis (often called whooping cough) is an infection of the airways that can occur at any age but mostly affects infants and young children. The infection causes uncontrollable coughing that can make it difficult to breathe. Infanrix Hexa Vaccine gives protection from pertussis. Consult your doctor for complete information regarding vaccination schedules.
In Prevention of Polio
Polio is a life-threatening disease caused by the poliovirus. It can spread from person to person and can infect the brain and spinal cord causing paralysis (unable to move body parts). Infanrix Hexa Vaccine gives protection against polio virus. It works by helping the immune system to produce antibodies to fight against the virus.
In Prevention of Haemophilus influenzae Type b disease
Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) is a bacteria responsible for severe pneumonia (lung infection), meningitis (inflammation of the brain), and other diseases that are caused in children aged less than 5 years. It is transmitted through the respiratory tract from infected to those individuals who are at risk of getting the infection. Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect against Haemophilus influenzae Type b disease. It is given by a doctor or a nurse and should not be self-administered.
In Prevention of Hepatitis B infection
Infanrix Hexa Vaccine is used to protect against infection by the hepatitis B virus. Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver caused by a virus. It can be spread from a mother to her newborn baby, by sharing needles and other equipment during drug use, by having sex with an infected person, by having a tattoo or body piercing and by sharing contaminated toothbrushes or razors.
