Lenmid 5mg Capsule belongs to the group of medicines known as Immunomodulatory agents. It contains the active ingredient Lenalidomide. It is indicated to treat adults with multiple myeloma, mantle cell lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndrome and follicular lymphoma. Multiple myeloma refers to the cancerous progression of plasma cells that are predominant in the bone marrow. These cells gather in the bone marrow and split uncontrollably. This type of cancer cannot be cured; however, the symptoms can be alleviated. Myelodysplastic Syndrome is a group of various blood and bone marrow diseases, where the blood cells become abnormal and do not function properly. Mantle cell lymphoma is a less common type of cancer that affects the lymph nodes. Follicular lymphoma is a slow-growing cancer that affects the B cells.
In Treatment of Multiple myeloma:
Lenmid 5mg Capsule may be prescribed along with other cancer treatments such as chemotherapy. It is an important part of your treatment and increases the survival rate of people with multiple myeloma. This medicine will kill the cancerous cells and prevent their further growth as well as spread to other parts of the body. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get the most benefit. Supplements of calcium and Vitamin D3 are also effective and may be prescribed if you do not have high blood calcium levels.
In Treatment of Myelodysplastic syndrome:
Lenmid 5mg Capsule is used to treat certain types of MDS, specifically those associated with a specific part of the chromosomes in the blood cells. It works by helping the immune system make more healthy blood cells in the bone marrow. Lenmid 5mg Capsule helps improve the production of red blood cells, reducing the need for frequent blood transfusions and making them feel better. It is important to check-up and monitor regularly to make sure it is safe and effective.
